We would like to thank the outgoing Minister for Health, Mary-Anne Thomas, for her leadership and commitment to a more connected and local health system.
Minister Thomas assumed the health portfolio during an extraordinarily demanding period for Victoria’s health system, following the impacts of the pandemic, and was steadfast in her commitment to reform and to building a more resilient public system for the future.
Community Health First has worked closely with Minister Thomas during her time as Health Minister, and we are grateful for her ongoing recognition of the unique role of community health across Victoria.
She understood that an effective health system is built in and for the communities it serves, and the importance of local services, preventive health, and the ongoing challenges our rural and regional communities face in accessing local, affordable care.
During her time as Minister, we have welcomed significant investments in women’s health, mental health, and urgent care that help more Victorians access care close to home.
On behalf of Community Health First and all our partner organisations, we extend our sincere thanks to Minister Thomas for her years of service and wish her well in all her future endeavours.
